Last week I spoke on a panel for the national launch of Lindy Hume’s platform paper Restless Giant: Changing cultural values in regional Australia. In my role as Chair of Regional Arts Australia I joined Lindy, Julian Hobba (Artistic Director, Aspen Island Theatre Company); Mikelangelo (Black Sea Gentlemen) and Karilyn Brown (Chief Executive Officer, Performing Lines) for a zesty discussion and Q&A session. Our conversation ranged across art making in regional settings and the various mechanisms for growing, supporting and expanding the impact of culture from the regions. Lindy has been launching the paper through a tour of regional New South Wales and Victoria, but it was particularly pleasing to see energetic engagement with the topic with the Canberra audience.
