Rolling on a red dirt runway

This July I am in Warburton, on the Ngaanyatjarra Lands in Western Australia, preparing for Warburton Fashion Week 2016. Wilurarra Creative is presenting a month of styling, performance and hair activities, leading up to a week of fashion-focused events.

There will be a whole lotta fun and also some serious work to be done; you can find out more about how we are part of an international practice of using hairdressing for social inclusion, health promotion and community development here. I’m in Warburton with my fellow social change hairdresser, the ever delightful Mel Balkan, focusing on hairstyling and event production. I’m also pursuing my mission to sneak a few well-groomed and decorated dogs onto the catwalk (clearly my dog show dreams aren’t over).

As always, I am so happy to be back under Warburton’s big blue skies, on the deep red dirt. Track down a copy of Desert Writing to find out more about why I love being here.
